Fonds Bustamante

Arles

The rehabilitation of the former Sainte-Croix Church reveals rather than transforms, restoring the building's spatial coherence while respecting its historical layers and Romanesque origins. Conceived for the Bustamante Foundation, the intervention establishes a discreet dialogue between architecture, art, and the city of Arles, rooted in light, materiality, and craftsmanship. Traditional techniques and a palette inspired by the Camargue reinforce the building's connection to its territory. The original circulation is reactivated, allowing visitors to experience both the architecture and the artworks. Precise, reversible, and understated, the project adds a new chapter to the building's history without erasing its past.
